Conveyancing Assistant

Jesse Chaplin

Jesse has been lucky enough to live in Noosa her entire life.  Graduating from Noosa District High School in 2016, Jesse honed her customer service skills in the hospitality and retail industries for 12 months before joining SPM Law in early 2018.

Jesse commenced as SPM Law’s full time Administrative Assistant and enjoyed her diverse role assisting a variety of team members. Jesse is keen to make the legal services a career and it was her professionalism and hard work that resulted in her quick promotion to Conveyancing assistant in early 2019. Her calm, friendly and positive attitude makes her a delight to work with and a perfect match for the very busy conveyancing department.  Jesse takes pride in her work and gives her best 100% of the time.

Music, Netball  (has played since she was 10), catching up with friends and cooking keep Jesse busy when she’s not at SPM.

COVID -19 Lease Legislation Summary

RETAIL SHOP LEASES AND OTHER COMMERCIAL LEASES (COVID-19 EMERGENCY RESPONSE) REGULATION 2020 (QLD)2020 - SUMMARY OF LEGISLATION Initial Comments On 28 May 2020, the Retail Shop Leases and Other Commercial Leases (COVID-19 Emergency Response) Regulation 2020 (Qld) (“the Regulation”) was introduced into Queensland law. Taking a few weeks longer than anticipated, the Regulation went beyond what was expected, or at least what was noted by the Mandatory Code of Conduct. The Regulation has a very tenant favoured basis, and grants some significant powers, even going as far to provide avenues for landlords and tenants to be ordered to pay compensation by the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (“QCAT”) if their conduct during the COVID-19 pandemic in negotiating rent is deemed unconscionable or is not in good faith.
