Going Global???? One step at a time....
24/05/2010
The Global Corporate Challenge commenced on 20 May and there are 7 dedicated souls at SPM who have signed up for it. This is the second year that SPM have joined the challenge which aims at improving office workers health and fitness. It is claimed to be "the world’s largest and most exciting corporate health initiative".

Last year there were 60,000 participants from 55 countries. Each team consists of 7 people and has a target of a minimum of 10,000 steps every day. With an average office worker clocking up about 1/3 of this in a standard day its aimed at getting bums off seats and out pounding the pavement.

Team leader Tanya McNamara is keeping everyone enthusiastic and she is joined by Denise, Hill, Denise Orr, Michael Sobey, Sophie Paras, Tony Petersen and Jed McNamara. At present Jed is setting the standard with upwards of 20,000 steps some days - however, there are suspicions he may not know how to reset the pedometer.........

Movember - Week Two

One week further and it would be nice to say they've improved..... unfortunately that can't be said. We're up to $740 raised and are looking to keep ahead of the Noosa Journal Mo-ngrels. We've established a comfortable lead but don't want to get complacent!!

The Boys do Movember
09/11/2009
"Its all for a good cause" - that's the mantra to explain the interesting facial growths on the SPM Law Mo'ers. Having never been described as oil paintings has not stopped Michael Sobey, Jed McNamara and Tony Petersen from embarking on the Movember challenge. Raising the profile of prostate cancer awareness and depression, Movember has been in place for 6 years now.

A new beginning...
05/10/2009
Sykes Pearson Miller has seen a recent changing of the guard. Litigiation associate Julian "Jed" McNamara has joined the firm to replace the departing Toby Nielsen.

Jed has a long established presence in the Noosa region having been the principal in a local firm before making the decision to focus solely on litigation with Sykes Pearson Miller. His wealth of experience will greatly enhance the already strong service provided in all areas of commercial litigation currently conducted by the firm.

After long and careful consideration Toby has decided to pursue his dream of becoming a barrister and has set up chambers in Maroochydore. Toby's decision was met with great disappointment from the SPM team at losing a great lawyer and team member, but we are fully supportive of his new venture and will continue to work closely with him in the future. Good luck Toby!
